Q. I have really curly hair which frizzes a lot. What style would suit me best and what can I use to tame the frizz?

Yolanda: "It is best to keep your style longer, rather than shorter, to allow for the bounce in your hair. The weight will help to tame the curls and keep them more manageable. Shorter styles will end up being lighter, resulting in the curls bouncing up. Product wise I would suggest using the Seah range which is ultra indulgent, giving curly hair, prone to frizz, the moisture it needs to keep it in beautiful condition. Try the Rose Bath Shampoo and Rose Wrap Conditioner for a luxurious finish."

Q. My hair feels really weak and I have it regularly highlighted. What can I do to make it feel stronger and healthier?

Nikki: "If you have concerns about the condition of you hair, speak to your colour technician. It may be that you need to use frequent treatments to strengthen your hair. Using a home hair treatment such as the Seah Cashmere Masque once a week, it will work to restructure the core of the hair. Keeping up a conditioning routine at home will also keep your colour fresh between appointments and maintain shine."

Q I have a fair complexion and brown hair makes me feel pale while blonde hair makes my skin look dull. What colour would suit me?

Ellie: "It is probably not of the colour that is the problem, it is more than likely the tone. Stay away from flat tones like ash and violet and instead try honey/beige blondes and golden or copper tones to warm up your complexion. Keep in mind that you may need to change your make-up with these colours, a soft bronzer will help bring it all together."

Q. I'm going to be getting married soon. I have no idea how I want my hair. Help.

"It is always a good idea to book a trial 6 weeks before the big day. It’s a safe bet to ensure you get the style you want, rather than hoping the hairdresser will get it right on the day. When you go in for the trial, bring pictures of styles you like the look of, you and your hairdresser can then determine together what would suit you best and what styles to steer clear of."

Q. I hear horror stories of chemical based products being extremely damaging to hair and scalp. Are they true and are there other alternatives to colouring my hair?

"It is always recommended by the manufactures of colour products to have a skin test prior to the application, 72 hours before your appointment. This is just a way to determine whether or not you have an allergic reaction to the product. Chemical based products, if applied correctly, are not over-damaging to the hair, only when they are applied over previously coloured hair, do you run the risk of extreme damage. If this is done excessively, the hair becomes weakened and eventually snaps. But, thorough consultations with your technician will prevent this from happening. If you are still unsure, choose a natural product, Essensity is a great colorant to use, it is organic and covers 90% grey hair."

Q. I have naturally mousey brown hair and have never had it coloured. I'm not sure what would suit me and whether to go blonde or brunette. What would you suggest?

Emily: "Colours have to work with your skin tone. Going blonde takes maintenance because of the re-growth, but you could choose a selection of colours for a multi-tonal and more natural look. Opting for brunette is easier in terms of upkeep as colour will gradually fade and is it also a great way to get a glossy, healthy shine to hair. I’d suggest opting for a semi-permanent like Igora Vigrance, there’s less commitment for your first dying experience."

Q. I have long hair and want to cut it into a shorter style. I don't know if it will suit me, what do you recommend

Andy: "It all depends on your face shape, hair texture and lifestyle. A full consultation with your hairdresser with pictures of styles you are keen on, will help guarantee you get a style that suits you. Don't jump straight in and consider what your hairdresser has to say, for example take into account the time that you have to style once you get home, you don't want to go away with a style you hate the next day!"

Q. My hair feels like its thinning! What can I do to prevent this?

Stewart: "A shorter and more structured hair style will make it feel thicker and fuller. Also a thickening shampoo and conditioner with a lightweight formulation will not over burden the hair, helping to give the appearance of volume. Try the Seah Ocean Mineral range, specially formulated for fine hair. Use a volume boosting product such as OSiS Upload and always blowdry hair for a fuller effect."

Q. I have heavy, dead straight hair and I need a change. What style would suit me best?

Stewart: "A style with plenty of layers and texture will add movement and bounce to the hair as well as making it look more current and modern. Or you could take it to a shorter bob length with distressed layers, this will remove all the weight and make it feel lighter and manageable."

Q. My hair is bob length and I want to grow it. The problem is, it’s very dry and splits really easily. What style would you recommend and are there any products that would help?

Andy: "There are a lot of people in this situation, it is always best to take off the damaged dry ends and gradually work towards a style that suit your face shape and lifestyle. When the right style is cut in then it will grow out beautifully and feel really healthy. There are also lots of products to help prevent dry ends, such as Seah Cashmere Tips. They will help stop split ends from occurring."

Q. I have a layered choppy bob, but the colour is really boring, what would you suggest I do with my colour to make it more modern and trendy?

Nicola: "Come in to have a consultation with a technician, so that they can look at the hair cut and your skin tone. This will enable them to discover which technique to use on you and colour choices. For a more fashion conscious look there are various types of techniques in the application of colour, for example using weaves and slices of colour would enhance the layers and texture of the haircut for a sassy look."

Q: I am thinking of getting the Keratin Blow Dry - how long should I expect the treatment to last?

A: This is really all dependant on how you care for your hair post-treatment. It is not a permanent straightening process but the effect should last up to three months if cared for and based on washing your hair twice a week. However, if you plan on taking a holiday having had the Keratin Blow Dry, the damaging exposure to chlorine, salt water and constant washing of hair will considerably reduce the treatment’s longevity and overall effectiveness.
