Sophie Cartwright was the lucky winner of the 12 Days of Christmas competition that ran by John Carne throughout December.

She came in on the 3^rd to have a consultation with Art Director – Andy Smith and Colour Technician Nikki Sherman to discuss her hair plan for the year.

On Saturday 10^th and Sunday 11^th December a group from our Guildford and Knightsbridge team headed up to Oxford Street to cater to River Island’s VIP customers.

The team were promoting Osis shape shifters on the day, transforming hundreds of customers with Glamorous hair up’s, funky fishtail plaits and big bouncy curls.

The girls and guys had a great day out and enjoyed being able to experiment with their own creativity.

Our Knightsbridge salon was transformed into a party haven last night as we celebrated our one year anniversary in style. To mark the occasion, clients, local businesses and colleagues joined John to help celebrate this special occasion for the newest salon in our group. 2011 has been a fantastic year for the Knightsbridge salon and we look forward to welcoming more valued clients in the near future!

The buzz in the salon right now is all about our photographic shoot taking place shortly with the photographer Stuart Weston! The collection will be called Versatility and will showcase one long haired model with 4 ways of wearing hair, taking her from a bedhead style first thing in the morning through to an on trend fashion forward style for a night out on the tiles. The vibe of the collection will be to ensure that the looks are translatable for our clients and can be used as inspiration for them in order to show the versatility of long hair which is increasingly popular with our clientele. We can’t wait to show you all the results… !

The battled commenced at 1800 on Monday 03 October 2011 with both sides not willing to take any prisoners alive! The different sides consisted of The Knightsbridge Team ,The Guildford Team and also The Wimbledon side who all fought valiantly against each other. Each salon sought different tactics to blow the other side out of the competition, Knightsbridge went for a City Chic with long hair dressing with flashes of red and cool blonde tones. Fishtail plaits wrapped round to create a smart chic style with glamorous red lipstick to make a statement. The flawless complexions matched their faultless looks.

The Guildford Team opted for a racier vibe with leather and sequins to create maximum impact. Dip dye and futuristic styling with a sleek and smooth finish left everyone mesmerised. The future is looking bright for this team of hotshots!

The Wimbledon Team took a seasonal approach with them drawing inspiration from the four seasons to ensure no target was left untouched. They used blonde tones throughout to highlight how sun kissed locks can float between the seasons and really make the most of the colour throughout the year.

John Carne was thrilled with the results, “I’m so proud of the teams and in my eyes they’re all winners.”

Here at John Carne we’re all getting rather excited about our inter-salon competition which is being held on the 26th September for all three salons in Guildford, Wimbledon and Knightsbridge.  Each salon pitches a team of 4 who will present 4-6 models based on their own concept of current, fashionable looks. The competition is going to be judged by Art Director Andy Smith & John Carne! We’re all really looking forward to it, especially as the winning salon will get to be involved in a shoot! Let the battle begin…

We had a great time at the Most Wanted Awards the other night, which is presented by hairdressing magazine Creative HEAD which showcases the industry talents. It was hosted by the hilarious Keith Lemon who had us in stitches! We arrived at 6.30pm to be met by cocktails which went down a treat to say the least! Then we had a delicious three course meal before the awards kicked off. Keith Lemon is a funny guy and really got into the swing of things and made the event fun for the audience. The evening seemed to fly by and after the awards there was a free bar and an after party, but unfortunately we weren’t able to take advantage of it as we had work the next day! However we had a blast and will keep our finger’s crossed for next year. . .

We’ve had a terrific week in the salons reviewing Samsung’s new Tab Plates technology after they approached us to trial them. Our clients have enjoyed using our colour services whilst surfing the net and catching up on the latest news at their fingertips. A pampering session giving your luscious locks some tender loving care and giving our clients some space to catch up on the hottest hair trends and tabloid gossip – or simply giving them some time to themselves to check emails and get down to some serious business in peace and quiet… whatever the reason, we’ve had some great feedback whilst reviewing Samsung’s new Tab Plates so watch this space!

Here at John Carne Hairdressing we’ve been noticing a shift in style towards dramatic volume and root lift as our customers move away from the side partings and to more movement and bounce. It may well still be that the nation is joining in Kate Middleton’s honeymoon so hence our move towards gorgeous glossy manes and sweeping hair away from the face to allow a natural English country rose feel. Hair is still big and beautiful but with a big bounce to leave it looking healthy with volume and vitality with lots of movement.

Originally from Oxford, he moved to the bright lights of London 3 years ago. Ryan’s favourite hobbies are surfing & art. He brings a brilliant dynamism to the team!

Diana is our latest team member so we want to say a warm welcome to her. Diana has been in the hair industry for over 5 years and joins our Knightsbridge salon. She has a real creative flair and a passion for the industry which is contagious. She has a gorgeous 3 year old daughter and in her spare time likes going to the cinema and trying different restaurants, and filling us in on her culinary experiences in the salon which we love hearing about!

We are loving our very own Ryan’s hairstyle this week! His cutting-edge style really helps rock this cutting edge look. The undercut now being dubbed BICKED is the hottest hairstyle with both male and female celebrities such as Cher Lloyd and Amelle Berrah from Sugarbabes sporting it.
